Keeping your car neat and tidy can be challenging if you travel a lot and are constantly on the road. However, we all feel better when we get into a nice clean car. If you’re a busy person who’s always on the go, here are some everyday hacks for keeping your car clean and organized.

1. Use Storage Containers

Storage containers are a great way to keep things organized in your home, so why not in the car? If you have certain things you keep in your car, such as sunscreen, an extra jacket, and a first aid kit, get a storage bin that’s the right size for these items so you can keep them all contained in one place. This not only makes for a clean car, but it also means you can find things when you need them.

2. Stock the Glove Box

When we say stock the glove box, we mean put things in there that you can use to quickly and easily clean up messes. Napkins are always handy because they absorb fluids and are disposable. You can also keep a cloth or rag in your glove box for those really stubborn spots that may require a cleaning agent to remove. Disinfecting wipes or some other type of wet wipes can be used to clean car surfaces, as well as to wash your hands after fueling up or before eating some road snacks.

3. Make Rules for Food and Drinks

Set rules for you and your passengers about eating and drinking in your car. Make sure your passengers know where the cup holders are located so they can keep their beverages secure while you drive. If people do bring food into your car, ensure it’s contained as best as it can be. This is another instance where storage containers can come in handy. You could also make a rule that only water is allowed or ice cream is banned in the car to prevent sugary messes that could potentially attract ants.

4. Line the Cup Holders

Cup holders can be tricky to clean, but they are like magnets for crumbs and dirt of all kinds. Try using silicon cupcake liners or empty gum containers in your cup holders to help keep them clean. These helpers will catch all the debris that accumulates, and then you can easily remove them for cleaning or to be replaced when they get worn out.

5. Wipe Your Feet

Our last hack for keeping your car clean may be the most effective. The simple act of wiping your feet before you enter your car could save you hours the next time you have to vacuum. Even if you think your shoes are clean and free of dirt, you’re likely still tracking in small pebbles, bits of grass, or sand. Anything on your shoes when you enter your vehicle will end up on your floor mats and carpet. Just get in the habit of stomping and wiping our feet before getting in the car, and you’ll notice a big difference.
