McGregor, Texas, is a welcoming community with plenty of activities the whole family will love. They are also part of a vibrant park system in the area. Here’s a look at some of the finest parks and their amenities in the McGregor, Texas, area.

Amsler Park

Amsler Park is located just of North Main Street in McGregor, Texas, and is loaded with fun for the whole family. There are trails for walking, hiking and biking where you can enjoy the wonderful tree-lined terrain while you cross numerous bridges over a creek that wends its way through the park.

 

There is a wonderful 9-hole disc golf course that plays 18 holes with two distinctly different baskets per hole. It is challenging due to the trees, yet fun for all ages.

There are basketball courts and a soccer field for sports fans, and a public pool to cool off on those hot afternoons. Two playgrounds are great for the little ones to run around on and there are plenty of open grassy areas to play whatever pick up games you desire.

Fishing is also a favorite activity here. The small pond is stocked with plenty of trout, catfish and more. If you’d rather spend the day feeding the ducks, Amsler park has them too.

Bewley Park

If you’re looking for a quiet place for the kids to run and play then, Bewley Park is the place. Located at West 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue Bewley Park has plenty of fun to offer. A multi-purpose field is good for football, baseball, soccer or a great game of tag.

A playground for the little ones offers swings, slides, and a merry-go-round. There’s a tennis court you can use for a fun match or two with friends. The park also has a shaded picnic pavilion you can take a break under and have lunch.

Cameron Park

Located just up the road in Waco, Texas, Cameron Park is a 400-acre oasis that runs along the Brazos River. The park has beautiful trees, manicured lawns, sporting fields, miles of trails, breath-taking cliffs, and plenty of activity all year.

Over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails wander through the park. Come out on your own for an exhilarating ride or hike, or check out one of the many races, runs, and weekly hikes put on by clubs and other organizations. While there don’t forget to check out the legendary Lovers’ Leap lookout pavilion or climb Jacob’s Ladder, a 110-step ladder that zigzags its way to the top of a bluff.

Cameron Park also features a 23-hole disc golf course. This magnificent course is fun for all ages and abilities. The Waco Disc Golf Association hosts weekly tournaments for the avid disc golfer, but the course is open to the public daily.

There are three giant playgrounds inside the park complete with swings, slides, bridges, climbing obstacles and a splash pad.
