One of the wonderful aspects about food trucks is that the owners can travel to various locations to share the food they love. Whether you’re in the mood for one of your favorite types of dishes or want to try something completely new, Waco, Texas, has you covered. The next time you’re in the area, check out any of these four food trucks.

1. The Blasian Asian

When Cambodian-born Chevy DuBose relocated to Waco with her husband Mike in 2015, she realized the area lacked authentic Cambodian cuisine. She ended up traveling to Dallas and Austin to purchase food from Asian markets to make meals for friends and family. Together, she and her husband bought a food trailer in October 2016 only to purchase a larger one a year later due to the success of The Blasian Asian. Stop by the food truck near the suspension bridge between Franklin and University Park. One of its popular dishes is yellow chicken curry, but don’t forget to try the grilled pork sandwiches and the stir fry lemongrass beef. The truck also serves combos so you can enjoy several of its popular dishes.

2. Churros’ Time Waco

Who says food trucks can’t be sweet? Family-owned and operated since 2018, Churros’ Time Waco only operates on Saturday and Sunday but it’s well worth it. After all, the truck won the Texas Food Truck Showdown Grand Championship in 2019 for its mini churros filled with dulce de leche, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. You can find the truck on North New Road, where its staff serves up fresh churros with ice cream. On the first Friday of each month, you can purchase $1 churros with a limit of six. Order two churros topped with strawberry Blue Bell ice cream, caramel, and whipped cream. You can also build your bowl filled with churros, multiple scoops of ice cream, and a variety of toppings.

3. Guess Family Barbecue

Although the Guess Family Barbecue has a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Franklin Avenue, its food truck is worth checking out. After all, the truck offers some of the same fare served at the award-winning restaurant that was named one of the top 25 new barbecue joints in Texas by Texas Monthly in 2019. Its menu features barbecue brisket, pulled pork and chicken, as well as beef and pork sausage. For your side dish, you can’t go wrong with cheesy grits, potato salad, or green chili mac and cheese.

4. Xristo’s Cafe

With a physical storefront on La Salle Avenue, Xristo’s Cafe serves its cuisine out of a food truck, as well. Composed of eight family members, all of whom love food and people, the cafe features Lebanese and Greek food made out of the freshest ingredients. Try its classic gyro, which beef, lamb, chicken, pork, or falafel with classic toppings including red onion, parsley, tomato, and its house tzatziki. You can also order a lamb burger with feta, cucumber, arugula, and mint. Don’t forget to top off your meal with some baklava. Is your mouth watering or your stomach growing yet? You can easily fix that by visiting these four fantastic food trucks in Waco.
