There are so many reasons to love McGregor, TX. We’re so proud of the sense of community here, and we think you should be too! Keep reading to find out some of our favorite things to do around our town.

1. Mother Neff State Park

This six-acre park is one of the earliest state parks established in Texas. There’s so much camping space; from a camping loop that provides up to twenty hook-up sites, to the fifteen sites located along the Leon River. As well as that, the park boasts 3.5miles of hiking trails for both experienced and beginner hikers. The park also offers a Junior Ranger program to encourage the little ones to engage more with the natural world and learn how to protect its resources.

2. McGregor Senior Center

As a family-run business, we understand the importance of taking care of our beloved senior citizens. The McGregor Senior Center provides a space where the older members of our community can come together and take part in a whole host of activities such as crafting, exercising, and socializing with one another. The center also serves as the local Meals on Wheels site, with meals being served every Monday to Friday from 10 am to 12 pm. The McGregor Senior Center is one of the highlights of our community.

3. Dr. Pepper Museum

Why not drive to nearby Waco and learn about one of our country’s oldest soft drinks at the Dr. Pepper Museum? This is a guaranteed fun day out for the whole family. The museum offers various different ticket prices depending on whether you want to be a soda taster or a soda maker. If soda isn’t your thing, they also offer late-night paranormal tours of the 100-year-old building.

4. Waco Downtown Farmers Market

We love supporting local, and it’s easy to do with all the awesome produce available to us at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market. The market opened its doors for trading back in 2011 and we can’t imagine what our community would look like without it. It runs every Saturday 9 am-1 pm, and hosts over fifty traders. We suggest getting down early on trading days to get the best produce.

5. The Last Drive-In Picture Show

The drive-in movie theater in nearby Gatesville is a must-see. They host two screenings a day, 364 days a year, as well as matinee shows every Saturday and Sunday to keep the kids entertained. If drive-in cinema isn’t your thing, they also have an indoor theatre showing one movie daily. And if that isn’t enough, they also have a miniature golf course to keep you entertained when all else fails.

Now that you know some of our favorite things to see and do in McGregor, you need a way to get out and explore them! Why not drop into us here at Jim Turner Chevrolet? We’ll make sure you’re able to make those day trips in style.
