A midsize SUV rebranded as a family crossover, the 2020 Chevy Blazer is part of a generation that reintroduced the vehicle to the market in 2019. Although it shares a name with the Blazer of the 1980s and ’90s, this new crossover is nothing like its namesake. This newer Blazer sits between the bigger Traverse and more compact Equinox. Available in four trims (L, LT, RS, and Premier), the Blazer also has three sub-trims found in the LT trim (1LT, 2LT, and 3LT). Keep reading to find out four reasons why you should consider the Blazer for your next vehicle.

1. Easy-to-Use Infotainment System

The Blazer comes standard with the user-friendly Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, which includes an 8-inch touch-screen display that has bold graphics, handy touch controls, and a convenient shortcut bar. This system also includes four USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo system, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There are also plenty of upgrades available, depending on the trim. The RS trim adds an 8-inch driver display, two additional USB ports, navigation, and enhanced voice recognition. With the Premier trim, you gain an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

2. Impressive Safety Features

Chevy didn’t skimp when it came to safety features on the Blazer. It comes standard with a rearview camera and a rear-seat reminder that alerts you to check the back seat for children and pets before exiting the vehicle. There are numerous options available, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, and pedestrian detection. Because of these features, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2020 Blazer with a perfect five-star safety rating. It earned five stars for the side and frontal crash tests and four stars for the rollover evaluation.

3. Powerful Engine Options

No matter what engine you have under the hood of your Blazer, you receive a decent amount of power. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 193 horsepower. New for 2020 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 230 horsepower. This option comes standard with the 2LT and 3LT sub-trims. The top-of-the-line engine option is a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 308 horsepower and comes standard on the RS and Premier trims. It is available in the 2LT and 3LT sub-trims as well. All engine options pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Base models only have front-wheel drive available, while the mid-level trims include all-wheel drive as an optional upgrade.

4. Excellent Gas Mileage

Thanks to these impressive engine options, the Chevy Blazer attains stellar gas mileage no matter what engine you have. The base 2.5-liter engine along with front-wheel drive gives you 21 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. With the turbo-four engine, you gain 1 mpg on the highway, while the V-6 models lose 1 mpg in the city and on the highway.
