The arrival of the mid-engine Chevrolet Stingray brought customers a new level of performance. This latest version of the Corvette might appear similar to previous versions, but it drives better than any other Corvette ever made. From the muscular exterior look to the interior designed to put all the controls within easy reach of the driver and high-quality components, this sports car has it all. Take a look at some of the amazing performance features of the 2021 Corvette Stingray.

  1. The Power

The 2021 Stingray gets its power from a 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine that puts out 490 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. This is the same engine from the previous model, but it’s in a new location. The mid-engine design puts it behind the passenger compartment, not in front of it. Adding the Z51 package with its dual-mode exhaust system bumps the horsepower up to 495.

An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission comes standard and is the only transmission available. It features quick shifts and combines the smoothness of an automatic with the action of a manual. The driver controls it using either the push-button gear selector or the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Chevy designed the transmission with no deceleration between shifts, which benefits lap times if you take your Stingray to the track.

  1. Designed For Performance

The mid-engine design provides better visibility, makes the Corvette more responsive, and gives the driver a better feel behind the wheel. The new placement provides rear weight bias and sends more power to the rear wheels. Chevy also redesigned the exterior, placing the windshield over the front wheels. This improves the downforce and eliminates the need for a front air dam.

  1. The Z51 Performance Package

You can make the Stingray perform even better with the Z51 Performance Package. Along with the performance exhaust that increases horsepower, this package also adds a redesigned front splitter, a rear spoiler, and an upgraded cooling system. A stiffer suspension is another upgrade with the Z51 package, along with a higher rear axle ratio, larger brake rotors, and Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires.

  1. Performance Extras

Chevy offers an available front lift system that raises the front of the Stingray almost two inches. It takes under three seconds to rise at low speeds, making it easier to clear obstacles such as speed bumps. You can even set up to 1,000 different GPS locations so it will automatically lift when you need it to.

The Driver Mode Selector has up to 12 different selectable performance variables. This allows you to choose the mode that you need to get the Stingray ready for different road surfaces and conditions. Choose the Z-Mode, and you can take personalized performance to a new level and save settings between drives. The available Performance Data Recorder acts as a digital driving coach with a high-quality recording of your drive.

Chevy redesigned the Corvette Stingray to maximize performance. Its new mid-engine design paired with the dual-clutch transmission and performance upgrades makes this the sports car to beat.
