Chevrolet has two HD trucks available in its lineup, although the letters don’t stand for high definition. In this case, they mean heavy duty, representing truck options that are extremely capable of handling all your most critical tasks. Take a closer look at the all-new 2020 Chevy Silverado HD models and how they stand up against competitors.

Body Style and Configurations

Chevy offers two versions of the Silverado HD, which are the 2500 and 3500. You can further configure your truck with different body style options and bed lengths. Both models are available with a regular, double, or crew cab, as well as a standard or long bed. The pickup was redesigned for 2020, featuring an oversized front grille and aggressive, bold lighting. Additionally, the longer wheelbase has increased the size of the cabin, making it more comfortable.

Powertrain Options

All models of the Chevy Silverado HD come standard with a new 6.6-liter V-8 engine that makes 464 pound-feet of torque and 401 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. You can upgrade to a more powerful 6.6-liter diesel-powered V-8 engine, rated at 910 pound-feet of torque and 445 horsepower. This unit matches with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, this truck can tow up to 18,500 pounds. If you need your truck to do even more, check out the Silverado 3500HD. When equipped with all necessary features, the trailer towing capacity goes up to 35,500 pounds.

Impressive Tech Features

You don’t have to sacrifice technology when you choose the Silverado HD pickup truck. The base trim level features a 7-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. With the higher trims, you can get features like a Bose premium audio system, a driver information display screen, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a larger 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, and wireless charging capabilities. On the comfort side, extras include heated and ventilated seats, perforated leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front seats. Many of the available features are grouped into packages, allowing you to choose the options that you want in the cabin of your truck.

Innovative Safety

Safety is always an important factor when shopping for a new vehicle, and the lineup of Silverado HD trucks doesn’t disappoint in this area. Standard safety equipment includes six air bags placed throughout the cabin, hitch guidance, a rearview camera, electronic stability and traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Chevy’s Teen Driver system. For more advanced safety features, choose either of the safety packages. These add features like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, an auxiliary trailer and bed view camera, following distance indicator, a surround-vision camera, lane departure warning with side blind zone alert, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. At Jim Turner Chevrolet, you can test drive either of the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD trucks to see which offers the features you want and need.
