McGregor, Texas, is an ideal place to enjoy a sweet treat with friends or family members. There are lots of delicious ice cream places in the area, so it’s always easy to find a new favorite flavor. Here are some of the best ice cream shops nearby.

Heritage Creamery

Blake and Kimberly Batson own Heritage Creamery and Common Grounds, the coffee shop next door. It’s in Waco, about 20 minutes away from McGregor. It uses all-natural ingredients, and the ice cream cones, cookies, and ice cream are homemade. On Mondays, you can take your ice cream scoop next door and top it with espresso. Ice cream sandwiches are $1 off on Tuesdays, and Waco residents get 50 cents off on Wednesdays.

Shakes are $1 off on Thursdays, and floats are $1 off on Fridays. Ice cream flavors include Chocolate-Covered Strawberry, Salty Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate, Duck Fat Caramel, Brown Butter Pecan, and Grapefruit and Honey. Delivery and catering for large events are available. You can visit from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Pokey O’s

Pokey O’s Cookies & Ice Cream is a food truck that goes all over the Waco area. They’re usually downtown, but you can ask them to come to special events and check social media to find out their exact location. They serve ice cream sandwiches made with homemade cookies and Blue Bell ice cream. Waffle cones. The selection of flavors changes frequently, but they always have mint chocolate chip, chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream.

Chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and gluten-free chocolate chunk cookies are available. Cookies and cakes are for sale in several flavors as well, including cappuccino chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia nut, and vanilla sugar.

Katie’s Frozen Custard

Katie’s Frozen Custard is also in Waco, and it serves homemade custard in delicious treats, such as hot fudge sundaes and banana splits with lots of toppings. The custard is a gourmet ice cream that’s denser and creamier than most regular ice cream. Try the Coffee Toffee Cyclone, frozen custard with coffee and Heath bar, or a Dirt & Bears Sundae with Oreo cookies and gummy bears.

If you are hungry for savory food before your dessert, you can also enjoy a 100% beef brisket hot dog, a chili cheese dog, or the Spoonburger, a ground steakburger sandwich. Shakes, floats, and malts are available as well. If you’re on a diet, you can still indulge in the Splenda vanilla custard, and their frozen custard pies make perfect desserts for large gatherings. Create your own, or try the Oreo Creme Pie or the Texas Turtle. This family-owned business opened in 2002, and they’re open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. They close at midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

At these great places, you can enjoy delicious ice cream with friends or family members. You can also take some home to try anytime. After all, it’s never a bad time for you to relax and treat yourself to some great ice cream.
