It was named the 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year, but after COVID-19 halted production, many people never got their hands on the 2020 Corvette Stingray. GM will resume 2020 production in the coming months, but many motorists are now eyeing the impending 2021 release. Exciting features like these should make the 2021 Corvette Stingray worth the wait.

1. Slick New Styling

GM will usher in a new era with a few new colors and embellishments. Long Beach Red and Blade Silver are being replaced by Red Mist Tintcoat and Silver Flare. Corvette’s executive chief engineer, Targe Juechter, calls Red Mist Tintcoat the brand’s most exciting shade ever. Needless to say, he’s already ordered the 2021 Stingray in this new red. Motorists can customize their new Stingray with a rainbow of new full-length racing stripes and Stinger graphics. The new visible carbon fiber high wings and door intakes add flair to this head-turning sports car.

The premium Stingray 3LT also comes with two new interior color schemes. Suede Strike yellow with Sky Cool gray and jet black leather with Sky Cool gray interiors can help set your new sports car apart. The Jake skull on the optional WeatherTech floor mats also looks amazing. Aesthetics aside, these floor mats are a great investment for protecting your vehicle from dirt, mud, and water damage.

2. Cutting-Edge Technology

GM has ramped up the technology for 2021, even on the base model. GM’s Magnetic Ride Control technology becomes a standalone option for all trims. It was previously reserved for the Z51 Performance Package. This smart chassis and suspension system adjusts the shock absorbers in real time for a smoother ride across a range of surfaces. All trim levels come with the wireless Apple CarPlay infotainment system.

3. Relatively Affordable Price Point

There was some early speculation GM would raise its prices for 2021, but that’s come to naught. A host of improvements haven’t raised the price, with the base model remaining at $59,995. The convertible price is also steady at $67,495.

Mr. Juechter conceded that GM had every intention of raising prices in 2021. However, the global health crisis of 2020 and its economic impact have put price increases on hold for now. We can essentially consider this a two-year launch, which ensures potential buyers aren’t disappointed before those inevitable price hikes. Insiders told MotorTrend the new Stingray’s true cost was around $20,000 more, so motorists will get a great deal in 2021.

4. Much More in Store

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the 2021 Corvette Stingray is the mystery that still surrounds its launch. Details about performance, safety features, fuel economy, and much more are still closely guarded secrets. Mr. Juechter says there are approximately 21 other updates for 2021, but he’s tight-lipped about what they actually are. All that secrecy raises our expectations sky-high.

GM should start producing this highly anticipated Stingray in September 2020, depending on the global pandemic. The first 2021 Corvette Stingrays should roll off production lines in November 2020. You can order yours from your local dealer starting in late July.
