Nothing could be cozier than curling up with a good book as the days start getting shorter. When you’re in need of something new to read, head to one of our four favorite bookstores in McGregor, TX.

Brazos Books

Located about 20 minutes from McGregor in Waco, Brazos Books is a family-owned shop that’s been in operation for more than three decades. You’ll find used books of all genres, and you can even trade in your previous reads for store credit. Brazos Books is an affordable place to shop, with most titles priced at less than $6. The collection has thousands of books, so it’s the perfect place to spend a rainy day browsing the shelves for gems.

Brazos Books is located at 1412 N Valley Mills Dr. You can visit Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Golden’s Book Exchange

Another option in Waco, Golden’s Book Exchange has a wide selection of books for all types of readers, including both fiction and non-fiction titles. The shop has especially large collections of cookbooks, biographies, and science-fiction titles. Don’t miss the half-off sale days, which run the first Thursday through Saturday of every even-numbered month.

Golden’s Book Exchange is a family-owned business located at 3112 Franklin Ave. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fabled Bookshop and Cafe

This Waco spot combines the best of both worlds. You can pick out a brand-new page-turner and relax with a cup of delicious coffee right in the same spot. Fabled Bookshop and Cafe sells both new and used books and hosts community events such as author readings. The shop also has games, stationery, gifts, and a large selection of children’s items.

Fabled Bookshop and Cafe is located at 215 S 4th St. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Bankston’s Comics and Collectibles

If you’re looking for graphic novels, comic books, and sports and pop culture books and merchandise, head over to Bankston’s in Waco. This shop originally opened in 1985 as Bankston’s Used Books, and the family business has evolved over the years to specialize in comics and collectibles.

Bankston’s Comics and Collectibles is at 1321 S Valley Mills Dr. You can visit from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday or until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The shop is closed on Sunday and Monday.
