With plenty of wide-open spaces around the McGregor, Texas, area, you have plenty of opportunities to get outside and spend the night under the stars. When the urge to go camping hits, check out these four cool camping spots. 

  1. Reynolds Creek Campground

Head over to Waco Lake and enjoy camping at Reynolds Creek Campground. The campground offers 51 spacious campsites and 10 equestrian sites along the shores of the 79,000-acre Waco Lake. After setting up camp, take a stroll along the 1.2-mile Tejas Nature Trail, or for a long hike or horse ride, take the 20-mile Lacy Point Hiking and Biking Trail. 

Bring your boat and launch it from the boat ramp and try your hand at catching catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass. Reynolds Creek Campground has RV sites with electricity and water, non-electric tent sites, and accessible sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and all sites have access to the restrooms and showers. You can camp with your horse year-round, and regular camping is available from April 1st through September 30th. 

  1. McGregor RV Park

Pull your RV into one of the 27 beautifully landscaped sites at McGregor RV Park. Each site offers full hookups with 30-amp and 50-amp electrical boxes. You’ll have plenty of room with the large shaded patios. Stroll through the park along sidewalks under graceful shade trees and say hello to your neighbors as you walk along. You can find several dining establishments within walking distance, and there’s a grocery store, gas station, and laundromat close by. 

  1. Riverview Campground

Shady trees, plenty of open space, and 127 RV sites are what you’ll find at Riverview Campground. Whether you stay for one night or several weeks, you can enjoy amenities such as a saltwater swimming pool, three clubhouses, a laundry room, and a bathhouse with hot showers. The kids will enjoy playing on the playground equipment, and the dogs can romp around in the fenced dog run. 

You can stroll and fish along the banks of the Brazos River located right across the street from the campground. Whether you want a full hookup, a partial hookup, or a back-in site, they come with a 50 amp or 30 amp electrical box as well as a water outlet. Stay connected with Wi-Fi at select sites and throughout various places in the RV park. 

  1. Live Oak Ridge Park

Enjoy views of Belton Lake when you camp at Live Oak Ridge Park. The campground has 48 sites that offer shaded or open, sunny spots. Whether you have an RV or tent, each site comes with an electrical hookup, water, a barbecue grill, and a covered picnic table. You can go boating and fishing on the lake, hike the numerous nature trails, and watch for birds and wildlife that live near the lake and surrounding forests.
