Where to Find the Best Mexican Food Near McGregor, TXIf there are two things we know in Texas, it’s great barbecue and great Mexican food. Here in McGregor, TX, we’re blessed with some of the best Mexican food joints you’ll find anywhere in the state. We’d like to recommend a few for you to try.

A-Cancun Mexican

A-Cancun can be found at 409 E McGregor Dr., and they’re open from 6 AM until 1 PM on Tuesday through Saturday. They’re closed Sunday and Monday, so be aware of that before you get in the car! As you might have guessed from their hours of operation, they’re a breakfast place first and foremost, and if you haven’t enjoyed a great Mexican breakfast before, you really need to try it at A-Cancun. Know in advance that this place is cash-only, so you’ll want to visit an ATM before you get there.

Try their 21 beef, their amazing breakfast tacos, and the perfectly prepared menudo. The breakfast burritos as also stellar and everything is prepared fresh when you order it. Nothing here has ever seen a “heat lamp.” The green sauce for their breakfast tacos may ruin you for any sauce on any tacos ever again. This place also goes out of its way to be family-friendly, so you can feel confident bringing everyone here.

El Taquito

Find El Taquito over at 1315 W McGregor Dr., and then you can call and thank us for the recommendation. They’re open from 7 AM until 2 PM every day except Sunday and Monday when they are closed. They have nice-sized portions, good service, and a very authentic flavor. They make their own tortillas in the kitchen, and you can tell these things are fresh and made with skill and love.

Get one of their breakfast plates, like the enchiladas or the menudo, or their breakfast burritos: and be sure to put plenty of hot sauce on it. Their sauce is homemade and amazing. Their chips are spot on and impossible to stop eating, and their homemade salsa warms you up right away. They do charge for their chips and salsa, which can be a shock since some places don’t, but once you taste the effort that went into making both from scratch, you’ll understand why.

Papi Taco

Want something fast and delicious that really hits the spot? Papi’s is the place for you. This place is located at 809 S Main St. and opens from 7 AM until 2 PM every day but Wednesday, when they’re closed. This is a tiny place, but the service is great and the food really hits the spot.

We recommend the shredded pork tacos, any of their breakfast burritos, and the homemade tortilla chips with salsa. They also offer good burgers, so if you happen to have someone in your party who doesn’t want Mexican, there’s a good option for them here. Prices are good and the portion sizes are reasonable. Be sure to try the chilaquiles.

Once you’ve filled up on chips and salsa, visit us at Jim Turner Chevrolet for great service and a wide selection of new and used vehicles!
