McGregor, TX is famous throughout the state for its excellent food scene. People flock from all over to enjoy many of the state classics such as BBQ and chicken fried steak, but did you know that the area also has some of the best pizza places in the south, too? Whether you’re looking for something high-end and fancy or some rustic, Neapolitan-style fare, here are some of our favorite places around town you need to check out.

Treno Pizzeria and Taproom

Located in Temple, just a short drive away from McGregor, Treno Pizzeria and Taproom serves an extensive selection of artisanal pizzas, salads, and sharing plates, making it a great spot to come with friends, and it also offers an excellent kid’s menu, so you can bring the whole family along to enjoy these delicious offerings.

As you could probably guess from the name, Treno Pizzeria and Taproom also boasts an impressive selection of international beers, wines, and spirits. So, if you’re looking to pair your pizza with a nice glass of Italian wine or beer, this is an excellent spot. Please remember, however, to always drink responsibly, never allow minors to drink alcohol, and never drive after drinking.

Fire Street Pizza

Head south out of town towards the nearby town of Belton and you will stumble across this little gem. All the pizzas are cooked in a woodfired pizza oven using only locally-sourced oak, meaning they come out perfectly crispy and full of smoky flavor.

Fire Street Pizza can often get pretty busy, making it difficult to find a table if you don’t have a reservation. However, all the dishes on the menu are also available for take-out, and with the 5.3L V8 engine on the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD, you can be sure you’ll get your pizzas back to your hungry family while they’re still piping hot!

Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria

Situated in Waco – the largest town near McGregor – Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria is another artisanal pizza joint that serves Neapolitan-style, thin-crust pizzas cooked to smoky perfection in their woodfired pizza oven. The base is always crisp and lightly chewy, and the sauce is incredible too, but it’s the internationally-inspired toppings that really put this place on the map.

If you’re not in the mood for pizza, then don’t worry, because the chefs at Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria also rustle up amazing pasta dishes, meatballs, and risotto.

These are just a few of the amazing pizza offerings around McGregor, but there are also loads more besides these. Whatever style of pizza you are looking for, and for any occasion, you will definitely find your perfect spot with one of these 3 great joints. Drop in and visit us at Jim Turner Chevrolet after your meal to let us know how it went and while you’re here you can also check out our showroom of reliable and reasonably-priced new and used cars.
