Car AC Not Working in McGregor? Visit Your Chevy Dealercar AC not working is the last thing any driver wants in a Texas summer. Fortunately, as the temperature climbs, your Chevy dealer in McGregor, TX, is here to fix any possible AC problem. These are samples of some AC problems we’ve repaired.

Strange Noises From the AC

When you turn on the AC, you should hear the very slight sounds of your AC working. If you’re hearing whining, rattling, or other strange noises you have an AC problem. The noises could have several different causes, including debris in the AC ducts and mechanical wear and tear. To find the exact cause, our technicians will need to examine your AC system.

Rating noises, for example, could be caused by a loose AC part. The AC has hundreds of different components, and even a single loose bolt or screw can sound like a major problem. Leaves and other external debris can also be drawn in through the AC ducts and make strange sounds as they’re blown around in the AC. Whatever the cause, our technicians will repair it for you and the noises will cease.

Wet Floor

If it’s not raining, a wet car floor is usually a sign that you have an AC problem. The evaporator coil is situated in front of the passenger side cabin section. The coil is responsible for changing the system refrigerant into gas and cooling it. This process produces water from humidity in the air. In time bacteria can start to grow on the evaporator coil.

A bacteria colony can grow large enough to block the drainage pipe, which drains water produced by your AC out of your car. The blocked pipe will lead to a build-up of water in the evaporator heater box. Eventually, the water will overflow and leak onto the carpet in your cabin. Our technicians can clean your AC with an antibacterial solution to remove the bacteria.

AC Goes From Cold to Hot

If your AC suddenly switches from blowing cold air to hot air, our technicians need to examine it. Your AC contains refrigerant gas, and refrigerant undergoes several changes between gaseous and liquid states as it cools your air. One of the most common causes of an AC blowing hot air is a blocked expansion valve.

The expansion valve is responsible for dispensing coolant, and a worn valve can fail. The valve can also freeze shut, which will prevent the release of refrigerant. Without refrigerant, your car AC will rapidly change from cold to hot. We’ll find the problem and have your AC blowing cold air again in no time.
